This Post has been Published in my Absence (post dated), Starting Next week, I will be Posting a New series of Posts (to run along side of my usual  Posts), it will Feature a different Artists, Band etc, it will Feature a short Bio with Facts Figures Links etc, it will also Feature some of their best Tracks they recorded!

I will start with who I think were one of the Best Vocal Groups EVER……..that’s The Chi-Lites!!!!!!

They had some Great Soul Music Ballads with the Great Eugene Record on Tenor lead Vocals!

A Couple of Artists I probably won’t be Featuring are Alexander O’Neal and Randy Muller of Brass Construction!

There are 2 Reasons for this, Firstly I have seen both of these Artists in Concert (see other Posts in this Blog) a few years ago, both were Great, Especially Brass Construction, who were one of my Favorite Bands, I have almost all their Music between the both of them, but sometimes things Just Naff You Off!

Alexander O’Neal : In the U.K we used to have a T.V Programme called “Wife Swap” well A.O was featured on this Show once, about 3 years ago, well what a “Big Head” he was ordering his exchanged Wife around like a Slave and he did many of other things on that Show, what did not do anything to improve his Image!

I went off him straight away, and dont think I have played any of his Music since then!

Randy Muller : I remember when I first joined Facebook, a few years back, I got a few Musical friends as you do, R.M being one of them, I told him how I had seen him in Concert a few years before, and how (when he came out into the Concert Hall before the Show) I had spoken to him  and got his Autograph etc, he never even Bothered to Reply to my Post, now this might sound a bit small minded, but he used to reply to most of his wall posts, and I thought being a fan of his, who had paid to see him in Concert and brought T-Shirts and all that Music etc over the years,  at least I deserved a Reply!

Anyway thats enough of that Moaning and Please come back Next Week for that start of a Great series of Posts (thats my opinion anyway)!

Some of the other Acts I have seen in concert over the years, I see my Favorite Band “Slave” about 25 years ago at a place called “The Pink Elephant” in Luton uk.

Steve Arrington had left them by this time, but they still put on a Great Show!

The picture above was taken by somebody I know at the Hammersmith Odeon Concert in London a few days later!

A few other Acts I have seen are “Change” KleeerSteve ArringtonLevel 42 “Gil Scott Heron”Dante “Mtume” Brass Construction “Dazz Band” Alexander O’neal ” Cherrelle” Michael Jackson”

Of these I would say the Best Concert was Brass Construction, before the Concert I actually met all the Band members including Randy Muller, I also have a signed Program from all the members.

I also thought Kleeer, level 42 and Mtume were Great! but these are among my Favorite Soul Bands, so perhaps thats why I liked them more!

GSH was alright, allthough he did start knocking “White People” during his show, as my Wife clearly remembered and always reminds of!

Steve Arrington was Good, although he never did any of the “Hall of Fame” stuff!

The Micheal Jackson Concert was the “Bad Tour” the one that Princess Diana attended!
I would not probably have seen “Jacko” but I used to have a Shop in them days, and I used to sell “Pepsi” and entered a Competition with them and Won!
2 tickets to see Jacko, so I went with my Wife, who does like “MJ”
It was a Good concert, but not really my “cup of tea” Susan thought he was Great!

Alexander O’neal was Alright, but I have recently seen him in a different light, through the English Television Show “Wife Swap” please watch this program, its in 5 parts!, you will see what I mean!

As for the “Dazz Band” please come back in the Future and read ” Part 3″ of this Blog entry!

1978 had some Great Vinyl, including Debut Albums from “Raydio, “Atlantic Starr, ” Rick James, and it was also the start of “BRIT FUNK” with the release of the Debut Album from “Hi Tension!
At last the UK had an answer to all the Soul/ Funk Music from the USA!

Over the coming years the UK had some Great Bands and Albums, I will doing being a Blog entry concerning “Brit Funk” in the future!

Check out the Player below, I have put a few of my Favorite Tracks from the above Albums!

Discover Barry White!

Around Summertime of 1977, I was still working as a Chef in the same Hotel, but by now I was by now seeing Susan all the time, I will always remember sitting in her bedroom with her listening to The Isley Brothers “Go for your guns” album, we both had the Vinyl Album! our Favorite Track was “Footsteps in the dark” GREAT TRACK!

By mid “77 most of the Music I brought was Soul, apart a few Funk Albums i.e
BRASS CONSTRUCTION, BROTHERS JOHNSON, BOOTSY, BOHANNON, FATBACK.

I recall one day going to Airfield Tapes to buy an Album, and one stood out from the rest, it was the Front Cover that caught my eye, they were called “SLAVE” I had never heard of them!
anyway there was 9 Band Members pictured on the back Cover, so I brought the Album!

What a GREAT ALBUM it was, I recorded it to Cassette Tape for the Car, and listened to it for Months, I still have the Vinyl Album to this day, but of course I now have the CD version!

The GREAT TRACKS on the Album were “SLIDE” “PARTY HARDY” “SCREW YOUR WIG ON TITE” and my Favorite “YOU AND ME”

This Album was nothing like I had ever heard before, it was what I had been listening to up until then, ie Soul Music but it had something else, what you would describe as Rock Music, please listen to the Album Tracks on the Walkman at the bottom of this post! and to this day I still regularly play “SLAVE”

Its the year of 1977, 32 years ago! seems a long while in Years, but to me it does not seem that long ago, I was still working at the same Hotel, I had been there since about October 1974, but things were going to change this Year!

Some Great Music was released this Year, more of that in a minute, but what did I used to play my Vinyl and Tapes on! you guessed it, that Great Piece of Equipment at the top of this entry!

A GEC MUSIC CENTRE it was called, I had purchased it myself around 1975 either from a Shop called Curry’s or my Mother’s Clothing Catalogue, I cannot remember, I would ask my Mother, but she doe not Speak to me now, so that’s out!

I remember the Music Centre had 2 seperate Stereo Speaker’s, the first Seperate Stereo Speakers I had owned, unfornately the picture I found on the Net didn’t have Speakers with it!

I remember recording Vinyl on to Tape for my Car!

What a Fantastic thing that was to do!
